I just started knitting the second sleeve of Assemblage…for the third time. I thought it was too big because I used the wrong needle size, but as it turns out, I messed up one row containing TEN decreases, so had to rip back to the cuff. Again. (Sigh…)
While I continue to make negative progress on Assemblage, I’ve started some smaller projects…for “fun.” I started the Tapestry Cowl, which immediately told me that it wants to be a Christmas gift. The reversible pattern is created using double knitting, which I had never done before. And even though I have to pay attention to every. single. stitch., it really is a cool technique. However, as cool as it is, and as much as I love this gorgeous pattern, I realized that colorwork is not really my thing. For whatever reason, I just don’t enjoy it as much as other knitting techniques. I might have to get over that, though. There are too many beautiful fair isle patterns in my queue…
I know what you mean about the fair isle. I’m dying to do it because I love the results, but every time I make an attempt I hit a wall with it. That cowl and scarf are gorgeous! Great fall colors….
Love the entrelac scarf!
I’m coming to terms with not enjoying fair isle. I love the results and the look, but I don’t enjoy the process. Give me cables or lace any day. 🙂
KEEP that scarf!!! I would NOT part with it!
I have a fair isle bag on my to-do list but am not allowing myself until I have other projects done. I’ve done one before that turned out great, but it seems every time I do it, it’s like I’ve never done it before.
I just finished my first entrelac project, it was a Silk Garden scarf that took me just 4 days! Normally it would take weeks, if not months, to knit a long and boring scarf but I was totally enamored with entrelac! 🙂
yeah! entrelac is so addictive. i’m wishing i had more silk garden, just so i could make one more. yours is so pretty already!
i can’t wait to see your tapestry cowl. the colors are gorgeous together. i want to make one too, but i’ve never tried double knitting. i suppose i should at least try it.
ooh – love the scarf! i have long lusted after Lady E, but know I will never knit it – this scarf may be just what I need!
I hear ya on the entrelac. It’s addicting.
hmm, i wouldn’t discount colorwork entirely. i think it’s pretty different from double knitting. after all, with DK you have to do everything two times and it seems to go so slowwwly b/c you’re doing twice the work for half the results (if that makes any sense at all)
but with plain stranded colorwork it goes fast b/c you just follow the chart to make a pretty picture. to me it seems faster than cables or lace.
that’s my opinion anyway. colorwork is my favorite technique, so i just had to give it a plug.
pretty scarf!
i love that enterlac scarf, i’m dieing to start one.
I love your scarf , super .
The scarf is gorgeous — might make me finally finish my two entrelac projects I started B.K.–that is, before kids! (The oldest one is 16…)
I’m glad to have found your site–I’m just into blogging this past month. Love it!

Oooo! That would be so pretty with a rust colored coat. I have wanted to try entrelac, but just haven’t got around to it. So nice! You make me want to start ANOTHER project!
