In a previous post, I mentioned that I had purchased a house. Since then, I have closed, moved in, and started tearing the place apart…which is why it’s been so long since I blogged. It’s not that the house necessarily needs a lot of renovating…you know, if you’re into pink and flowered and striped wallpaper. Which I am not. For me, the best thing about owning a home is not the investment or the rite of passage or the not sharing walls with strangers. Although all those things are great, what I’m looking forward to most is creating a home that’s a reflection of myself.
Funny how you can fall in love with a place, knowing that you want to change nearly everything about it.
I started this process pretty much the day after I moved in.Β I’ve changed light fixtures, arranged furniture, ripped down wallpaper and painted and painted and painted. Some rooms are coming along nicely, but none if them are quite finished enough for me to show “after” photos just yet.Β So here are a few “before” pics of my new nest…

“After” photos are not far behind…I hope…
OMG, your house is beautiful! I guess I can understand the changes if you’re not into pink and stripes. π
Congratulations!!! Can’t wait to see your after pics. You own a beautiful home!
It looks like a gorgeous house. Gorgeous floors, great natural light, lovely wood. I’m sure it will be beautiful after you’ve made it your own.
Congratulations!

Awesome! The bones are amazing. Great find and I’m looking forward to seeing the after pics.
This setup is almost identical to a house I wanted to buy last year! I love the woodwork
Wow, your house is gorgeous!! Can’t wait to see the new colours and layouts π
Congratulations on your new nest! I’m looking forward to seeing how you feather it to your tastes, it’s going to be wonderful. π
Arts and Crafts! It’s gorgeous! You know, aside from all the pink… I kinda like pink myself, but baby pink? Everywhere in a house? That’s kinda wrong, thankfully it’s on fairly easy to change things! The walls underneath look like they are in good condition, that’s what matter most. π
The staircase is magnificent! I just loooove the wood! I also like the bookcases around the fireplace, classic arts and crafts! Everyone seems to tear them out though. I hope yours work for you! They look in lovely condition.
Good luck with your renovations! I too can’t wait to see what you’ve done to the place! π
I can see why you feel in love with it. . . great trim, light and the opportunity to make it your own. Can’t wait to see how you do that.
